Yo!
This is the second installment of a new series we're calling MCV Community Highlight! This segment is created to highlight some of the dope people in Nashville and what they are doing to make a difference in the community.
For our second community highlight guest, we are highlighting Zach or Biscuit as we call him at MCV! Zach & his partner Ali own a Vegan restaurant called Guerilla Biskits in East Nashville that specialize in Vegan Biscuits that pack Hardcore Flavor! Zach is a person of many talents where if he's not making biscuits in the kitchen, he is creating dope graphics as a graphic designer, or spinning old school vinyl records like they did in the 80s and 90s on stations like WXNA on 101.5FM. Biscuit is also an advocate in our community, spreading awareness of social injustice and supporting great causes like the Nashville Community Fridge in North Nashville.
Many of the designs you've seen from MCV were designed personally by Biscuit and he is basically apart of our family. We wanted to do a little Q&A to let our audience get to know more about Biscuit and hear more about him personally. We sat down and talked to him to ask him some simple yet detailed questions to get to know him personally. Hope you all enjoy and be sure to check them out whenever you're in East Nashville!
First, What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Zach Halfhill and I’m from Gibsonburg, OH
Where did the name Guerilla Bizkits come from?
Zach: It’s been my Instagram name since Instagram came out. it’s a mix of 2 bands: Gorilla Biscuits and Limp Bizkit
I see that there seems to be a music inspiration behind the brand…If so how do you incorporate that within your brand on a day to day basis?
Zach: Well, music is why I’m vegan and how I was introduced to most of my ethos so I try to incorporate that sentiment back into almost everything I do. beyond the ethos we pull from radical hardcore punk music, we literally sell records.
Random question but why Biscuits? You could’ve done cookies, brownies, hell donuts for that matter! So why did you choose biscuits of all things?
Zach: There was no good biscuits in this town and that made no sense to us - vegan or not.
Where do you want to see the brand in 5 years Zach: I wanna be in whole foods/ turnip truck and continue doing unconventional collabs with brands that we fuck with
